The "pleasure" of school kids

First up, apologies for not blogging for a while, but I've not really had anything of note, save for a long Easter weekend off (Thursday to Monday, inclusive).

And now to the main crux of the post, a rant about the little darlings at the school local to my current station.

These children finish school at around 15:30, and most of them come to the station to board one of two trains, so by around 16:00 they've gone.

Today, a small group of said "little darlings" thought it was a good idea to make paper aeroplanes out of some of our leaflets, or just generally screw them up, then throw them around the Waiting Room/Booking Hall area, including at the counter.

Needless to say, such behaviour does not make for a happy me, especially as it's muggins here who has to clear up the mess afterwards. Accordingly, I've e-mailed our Station Master to request that we make a formal complaint to the school in question.

Their actions are in breach of several of the railway byelaws, including:

6. Unacceptable behaviour
(1) No person shall use any threatening, abusive, obscene or offensive language on the railway.
(2) No person shall behave in a disorderly, indecent or offensive manner on the railway.
(7) No person shall drop litter or leave waste on the railway.
(8) No person shall molest or willfully interfere with the comfort or convenience of any person on the railway.

13. Unauthorised access and loitering
(2) No person shall loiter on the railway if asked to leave by an authorised person.
Under the Byelaws, we are entitled to ask them to leave railway premises, and use "reasonable force" to remove them if they fail to comply, and they're liable to a penalty of up to £1000 for each byelaw offence.

Unfortunately for us, however, there's another rule which basically says "Thou shalt not leave someone under 16 stranded, even if they're bringing it upon themselves". Good huh?
